Games are super popular at our house in large part because my husband loves to play games. Gamewright, a small, local game-making company makes a bunch of our favorites including Mermaid Beach, Sleeping Queens, and Rat-a-tat Cat.

Our kids’ school is having a game night with a big Bingo game that the 5th graders help run as well as board games. We’re also having Gamewright games as part of a fundraiser. This is a great low-key way to have a fun game night and raise some money for your school. Once you sign-up with Gamewright they will send you two huge boxes of demo games that kids and parents can play during your game night. They will also send you two huge boxes of games to sell. 50% of the proceeds will go to your school. You can also provide demo games to teachers and encourage them to fill out wish lists. That way parents can buy games for their kids’ classrooms. Gamewright provides you with everything you need from flyers to teacher wish lists.

In order to be able to help kids play games during Game Night my husband and kids have been trying out all the demo games. We’ve found some new favorites including Take the Cake, Too Many Monkeys and Dweebies. Most of the games are for kids 6 and up, but some like Take the Cake are for younger kids. Something that really impressed me and my kids is that some of Gamewright’s games, like Mermaid Beach, were created by kids. One other cool item they sell is a card holder. My daughter loves using this when we are playing card games like Uno where she can end up with a hand of cards too big for her little hands to hold.
